ROSE CHANT
by Alex Lee
“‘Give me a red rose,’ she cried, ‘and I will sing you my sweetest song.’”
- Oscar Wilde, “The Nightingale and the Rose”
Harmoniously captivating ROSE CHANT forms an olfactory picture of a blooming garden. The opening notes of roses are followed by a spicy yet still flowery heart that fades into a woody base. The rosy scent is inspired by the hauntingly beautiful song the nightingale sings while impaling itself on a thorn in Oscar Wilder’s short story “The Nightingale and the Rose.” The final sacrifice is senseless, as the resulting red rose fails to win the love of a girl, but still very moving.

“The romantic ROSE CHANT is all about the rose–an opulent, exuberant, and daringly present, yet classic and soft. The top notes come with delicate pink berries, the enchanting beauty of wild roses, and a tender vineyard peach. For the heart, frozen rose, geranium and lily of the valley come together to add floral depth and sophistication. The warm base notes comfort with cedar, crystal rose, and velvety musk.”
