VIOLET CHARADE
by Emilie Bouge
“A library of books is the fairest garden in the world, and to walk there is an ecstasy.”
- “One Thousand and One Nights”
Seductively spicy VIOLET CHARADE is reminiscent of a first date. Its citrusy top notes give way to a floral heart with a hint of amber and then to a sweet and woody base. The composition is as diverse and surprising as “One Thousand and One Nights,” the folktale collection it was inspired by. In the book, the beautiful Scheherazade, the new wife to a Persian king, successfully evades her execution by narrating a series of captivating stories full of wit, romance, eroticism, and tragedy.

“VIOLET CHARADE is an oriental woody perfume with green accents of crushed leaves that contrast the warmth of a sensual musk and precious woods such as patchouli, sandalwood, and cashmere wood wrapped by ambergris, tonka beans, and vanilla. On top, golden zests of bergamot and grapefruit associated with the forbidden red apple are enhanced by cardamom, elemi gum, and pink peppercorn. A touch of narghilé smoke in the woody heart evokes ‘rêverie’ and escapism… And there you have it, the main ingredients of mystery.”
